Dr. Truong has given lectures worldwide in Bangladesh, Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and the Netherlands, many of them at the invitation of their national neurological organizations. In 2013, he was elected Honorary Member of the Romania Society of Neurology. In 2014, he was honored with lifetime membership of the Pakistan Society of Neurology. Dr. Truong was appointed honorary professor in Kazakhstan in September 2015 and in Vietnam in April 2016.

Dr. Truong serves on the editorial board of 7 neurology journals and serves as reviewer for 20 other scientific journals. He is an ad-hoc grant reviewer for other countries such as Great Britain, China.
Dr. Truong is currently the President of the Internaional Association for Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. He serves as the Congress Chair for the upcoming XXII World Congress on Parkinson's disease and Related Disorders in Vietnam on November 12 - 15, 2017. He also serves on the education committee for the World Federation of Neurology and the International committee of the American Academy of Neurology.
